Millennium Cup

Many congratulations to the Maiden Erleigh team who won the 2026 Millennium Cup. Held on Friday evening, 7th August, in perfect conditions, this year’s competition was well supported.

After the match, presentations were made to: the winners, Maiden Erleigh; runners-up Burghfield; and last year’s runners-up, Reading. Well done all.

Thanks to all the Palmer Park members who helped with setting out the green, organising food and running the bar.

KLV ‘B’ Team Earn Promotion

Congratulations to our KLV ‘B’ Team who have earned promotion for next season by finishing as runners-up in their division. In this their first season, the ‘B’ Team has proved to be an exciting and successful addition to the Club’s participation in this competitive league.


Ericsson Bowls Fund Day

Sponsors Evening – Walkers

On Friday 19th June, the Club hosted our Sponsors, A. B. Walker. It was a successful, fun evening beginning with hot pizza and cold buffet, followed by bowls-influenced games on the green. A good time was had by all.


FAMILY & FRIENDS DAY

A big thank you to everyone who came to our Family & Friends Day on Sunday 14th June. Over 50 people attended, including toddlers, and many tried their hand at bowls out on the green. Everyone was able to enjoy a cream tea. Over £200 was raised for the President’s nominated charity, Parkinson’s U.K. Thank you to everyone who helped out.


New Bowlers Course Report

The 6-week New Bowlers Course was concluded Tuesday 2nd June. In total, we had eleven bowlers completing the course and at least seven of these have joined as full members. Please look out for a few unfamiliar faces and introduce yourself. As always please encourage them and make them welcome.

COMPETITION RESULT: Sawyer Mixed Pairs Finalists

After a long, hot afternoon two pairs emerged as victors of their respective leagues and go forward to the final of the Sawyer Mixed Pairs competition. The finalists are:

  • Heather Proctor and Barry Potter
  • Julia Crosthwaite and Les Barton.

The Final will be held on Finals Weekend.

KLV ‘B’ Team Start with a Win!

The first ever match involving out new KLV ‘B’ Team resulted in a good win over Prospect Park ‘B’. Conducted with the usual friendly competitiveness and in glorious conditions, the match ended in our favour with a score of 63-38, with wins on two rinks to Palmer Park and a draw on the third – leading to a win on points of 9-1 to the home team.

Successful Open Day

On Saturday 18th April, the Club held the annual Bowls Taster Day, the main purpose of which is to attract new members. Twenty people turned up to have a go on the green. Of these, four have signed up and five or six have expressed interest in the Introduction to Bowling Course.

WhatsApp

The Club WhatsApp Group is available to all members – a good way to keep up with the very latest happenings. It’s also useful for: viewing team selections; arranging lifts to away games; markers for games; substitutes for matches in the event of being unavailable.
