Captain’s Log

26th May 2024

Today we had an amazing win in our friendly match against Wokingham Bowling Club.

Every triple won their game, giving us the brilliant score of 94 against Wokingham’s 44.

As always, everybody on the green played as best they could on the day, but special congratulations go to Janet and Julia who were skipping in mixed triples for the first time.

We could have got very wet but after the initial downpour while we were putting out the rinks the rain only fell for very short and relatively light periods. The sun shone on most of the match.

Over the last few weeks our wins to losses is in the positive column.

Thank you every body who has played and also to those who have turned up as reserves without getting a game. I promise you that you will play the next game you sign up for.

Thanks also to Alistair and Gordon for their tactics talks on Wednesday when the competition was abandoned because of the weather. I have been told that some of those listening felt that their game against Wokingham benefitted from your guidance.

Finally, if you want to play in the Ian Stacey Triples Competition please put your names forward as soon as possible so Richard and Janet can finalise the arrangements for the day.

To many of us this is a very special competition as Ian was a dearly loved friend and captain of our club.
